The cockpit was the best aesthetic thing on this boat, when i bought her, previous owner had just varnished, and tell no lie it was a glass mirror finish.
to keep it impecable, previous previous owner had a cockpit cover made from marquee material in hardwearing plastic, with rubber ties fitted over chromed hooks. this meant you got no bird crap or weathering except the short times you were onboard and lifted off the cover then.
The material is some kind of expensive planks of solid thick mahogany, oak or maybe teak, as you can see, i think its mainly mahogany with some oak. all settled into shape now, and very strong still.
I have removed it all as a ‘materials kit’ i think will transform a delapidated unwelcoming plastic or rotting wood cruiiser like it was in, you will bound to need to construct framing and sides, for a total wood enclosure, but the visual tops are here, and i would say otherwise unaffordable expensive to buy and have locker lids made of such material today, even on a sunseeker.. As you can see, there now plenty of scratches to sand off and a new stain and varnish will create a marvel for all your visitors and something to be proud of...
dimensions are on the pics, click them to blow up, 3/4” thick hardwood, approx 5 foot long cockpit of 9” wide lids both sides, plus front engine covers/seat
