Plastimo system (the best, reliability and quality)

forestay length= 8.65m (usually a forestay is shackled to deck plate but roller furling needs the base bolted either sid of deck plate ring to stop drum moving properly, so...

assembled length = forestay + bottom drilled adjustment of 7cm added at base is 8.72m

maximum stretched luff measurement would be 8.72 - 20cm at bottom, - 12cm lost on the head bearing, and - 26cm (8.46-8.72) top limit the bobbin goes short of the halyard eye = 872-20-12-26 =8.14 m

The genoa i have in the sails page has unstretched luff of 7.57m (between hoops), which gives enough for stretch, and also allows a 12” cord between drum and foot if you want more under-foot visibility, without running out of track room.

Halyard with s/s eye to match

Full manual avail on request for assembly/disasembly/changing length spare parts etc

Changing dimensions:

to fit a new forestay, the rivets are easily drilled out, then the halyard liners can be pulled out, then the halyard may be replaced, lenghtened or shortened. The one in it is ss and very strong uprated for this boat new in 2002. you could more easily lengthen by adding a length above. If the halyard needs to be shortened by more than 10cm, i would suggest it is first removed, then you can saw the alloy tubes to length, refit the halyard, liner and cap with new rivets in about half an hour. bear in mind the maximum luff i quoted above would have then reduced accordingly, so the sail i have might not fit then, but is perfect as it is luff 7.57 unstretched between hoops
